A tab for the Constraints grid appears in the data type selector panel at the top of the display area for Scenarios and Forecasts. The grid shows all constraints that are binding in the optimal dispatch solve, and provides information for understanding what is driving price and dispatch in any particular solve. The column data is described in the following table.

Column Description
Constraint Type
The type of constraint that is binding:
  • Circuit Equation - an equation constraint
  • Limit limit - the maximum rating of a line (circuit)
  • Base Risk Fast (or Sustained) - risk in a reserves region set by the region's base risk (currently 121 MW in the SI, not applicable in the NI)
  • Import Risk Fast (or Sustained) - risk in a reserves region set by a DC (HVDC) risk
  • Unit risk - risk in a reserves region set by an AC (generator) risk
  • Max Gen+Rsv Fast (or Sustained) - a unit providing reserves is constrained such that dispatched reserves plus dispatched generation equals maximum output in MW
  • PLSR Slope Fast (or Sustained) - a PLSR unit providing reserves is constrained such that dispatched reserves is a fixed factor of dispatched generation in MW
Entity
Name of the entity that is constrained
Formula
Constraint formula (equation constraints only)
Limit
Right hand side limit value of a constraint (equation constraints only)
Price Separation
The cost that the constraint imposes on the dispatch in dollars per MWh (a.k.a. Lagrange multiplier)
Adjustment
The magnitude of any adjustment to a constraint limit required to allow EMO to find a feasible solution to an optimal dispatch - usually equal to zero
