NOTE: If you choose to Keep and Overwrite the data loaded from file it is possible to mix Offers data sourced from file and database.
>> To Load a Forecast Definition with Offers from Files:
- First enter the Effective Date Range of the forecast
- Select the dates of the Offers data you wish to use taking care to note the days of the week for these dates (for initial loading it is best to select seven consecutive and complete Offers files with the earliest file having the same day of the week as the first day of your selected Effective Date Range)
- Bring up the Load Offers from Files Panel and use the "Get Files ..." button which opens the Windows file browser to locate the required Offers files
- Highlight the files to be loaded (NOTE: holding the <SHIFT> key while right clicking with the mouse allows multiple files to be highlighted)
- Click open to select the files and display them in the Selected Offers Files box
- Check the Load Offer Data Check box
- The Offers data will be loaded with the next load data operation.
The Load Transmission Data Panel
Access
The Forecast Definition Window using the Data > Load Data menu option.
Purpose
To specify the date range of Transmission data you want to load into a Forecast Definition from your default Transmission System data source.
Transmission System Data Loading Modes
A Transmission System data can be loaded into a Forecast Definition in one of two modes:
- Date Range Mode, which uses system data for all periods in the Forecast's Effective Date Range (or a user-entered date range)
- Period Mode, which uses system data from a single period and applies it to all periods in the Forecast's Effective Date Range
How EMarketOffer internally constructs Transmission System data
When creating the Transmission System data EMarketOffer first uses the latest data files to build the basic grid. The Transmission System is modelled as a set of lines with specific ratings (taking into account Summer, Shoulder and Winter changes, or VLRs). Any line re-ratings scheduled in the falling within the Forecast Effective Date Range are applied over the top of the original ratings. Finally any Equation Constraints that were or will be applied during the Forecast Effective Date Range are activated accordingly.
NOTE: EMarketOffer currently only accesses historical grid data to build grids. When Forecasting, you will need to add your own future data where you think it will be different to what happened in the past. (As of early 2013, Energy Link is working on new capability that will allow EMarketOffer to predict equation constraints for future grid configurations.)
Date Range Mode
Access
By clicking on the Date Range tab in the Load Transmission Data Panel.
Purpose
To select a date range for loading Transmission System data into a Forecast Definition.
Load Items
A Definition loaded through the Date Range Mode will contain the following:
- Base Grid Configuration
- All re-ratings applied during the date range
- All Group Constraints applied during the date range

Period Mode
Purpose
To select a specific period to provide the basic Transmission System data for all periods in your Forecast Effective Date Range.
NOTE: When using Period Mode EMarketOffer applies the basic grid and re-ratings to obtain the System Configuration for the Period and applies this to all periods in the Effective Date Range. It does not keep specific record of Circuit re-ratings or Equation Constraints, which are kept when loading in Date Range Mode.

>> Example 2. To export all Offers from a Forecast Definition:
- Check and uncheck the top level box (to clear all lower level checks)
- Expand the first level to show second level items (if not already expanded)
- Check the Units Box
>> Example 3. To export Offers only for Benmore:
- Uncheck the top level box if already checked (to clear all lower level checks)
- Expand the first level to show second level items (if not already expanded)
- Uncheck the Units Box if already checked (to clear all lower level checks)
- Expand the second level to show individual units at the third level
- Check the boxes for BEN0162_BEN0 and BEN0163_BEN0 (both the Units and the top level box should appear checked)

The Energy Offers Graph
Access
The Graphs > Offers Graph option in the Forecast Definition Window.
Purpose
To display a Forecast Definition's weekly Energy Offers profile for a specific Generation Unit.
Functionality
The Graph appears as the Offers Graph embedded in the Edit Unit Information Window. The functionality of the graph in this location is identical to that of the generic Offers Graph with the following exceptions:
- The Display of Offers is restricted to the seven-day Offers profile for the Unit
- An additional Day of Week picker allows you to quickly inspect the offer stack for any single day of the profile
The Supply Curve Chart
Access
The Graphs > Supply Curve option in the Forecast Definition Window.
Purpose
The Supply Curve Graph displays the Offer Stack for the Current Data Set (excluding the Powerflow Case Data Source). The Graph appears in its own window and is updated whenever the Current Data Set changes.
The functionality of the graph in this location is identical to that of the generic Supply Curve.
The Profiles Menu Option
Access
Either the Profiles > Demand or Profiles > Offers options of the Forecast Definition Window Menu
Purpose

Importing into the Profile
Demand or Offers data can be imported into the Forecast Definition Profile from any properly formatted file. Selecting the File > Import menu option from the Profile Window opens the standard Windows file browsing window to locate the import file.
An imported Profile may contain data for:
- One or many Nodes
- One or many profile days
- One or many Trading Periods
WARNING! Demand for Nodes and Offer for Units not currently contained in the Profile's Transmission System data will be loaded, but will not play any role in the dispatch analysis unless the new Node is manually connected with one or more user-defined Circuits.
