The Load Transmission Data Panel

Access

The Forecast Definition Window using the Data > Load Data menu option.

Purpose

To specify the date range of Transmission data you want to load into a Forecast Definition from your default Transmission System data source.

Transmission System Data Loading Modes

A Transmission System data can be loaded into a Forecast Definition in one of two modes:

  • Date Range Mode, which uses system data for all periods in the Forecast's Effective Date Range (or a user-entered date range)
  • Period Mode, which uses system data from a single period and applies it to all periods in the Forecast's Effective Date Range

How EMarketOffer internally constructs Transmission System data

When creating the Transmission System data EMarketOffer first uses the latest EM6/COMIT/Ellsoft supplied data file to build the basic system. The Transmission System is modelled as a set of Circuits with specific ratings (taking into account Summer and Winter changes). Any line re-ratings scheduled in the Constraint data falling within the Forecast Effective Date Range are applied over the top of the original ratings. Finally any Group Constraints that were or will be applied during the Forecast Effective Date Range are activated.

NOTE: EMarketOffer uses EM6/COMIT/Ellsoft Constraint information to extract historical and expected Group Constraint data. Of the three types of Group Constraints (Permanent, Outage and Temporary), only the timing of future Permanent Constraints can be predicted using EM6 Constraint information. You will need to monitor your sources of Transmission System data for updates to ensure your Forecast Definitions contain the latest Outage and Temporary Group Constraint data.

Date Range Mode

Access

By clicking on the Date Range tab in the Transmission Data Panel.

Purpose

To select a date range for loading Transmission System data into a Forecast Definition.

NOTE: This Mode is only available when Transmission System data can be obtained from EM6/COMIT-provided files.

Load Items

A Definition loaded through the Date Range Mode will contain the following:

  • Base Grid Configuration
  • All re-ratings applied during the date range
  • All Group Constraints applied during the date range

Components

Component Purpose
Date Selectors
Allow you to select the days for which to start and finish loading Transmission Data into the Forecast Definition

  • Start Date = First date of the Forecast Definition Effective Date Range
  • End Date - Last date of the Effective Date Range
  • Clear and Load = Checked
  • Include Transmission System data in next load operation

Period Mode

Purpose

To select a specific period to provide the basic Transmission System data for all periods in your Forecast Effective Date Range.

This Mode is only available when either the Transmission System data can be obtained from your online database or from EM6/COMIT-provided files. It is the only loading option available when EM6/COMIT data files are not available.

NOTE: When using Period Mode EMarketOffer applies the basic grid and re-ratings to obtain the System Configuration for the Period and applies this to all periods in the Effective Date Range. It does not keep specific record of Circuit re-ratings or Equation Constraints, which are kept when loading in Date Range Mode.
